Here’s an article which clearly outlines the chronic mis-management of the national health service and the problem of health tourism which isn’t being tackled.
The NHS was not set up to provide free healthcare to the world. It wasn’t set up to provide free healthcare to the residents of Europe/The EU. It was set up to provide free basic healthcare to the residents of the UK at a time well before the EU.
Anyone who believes the NHS’s problem is due to ‘old people’ hasn’t got to grips with the NHS’s problems with:
- health tourism
- mass immigration
- chronic mis-management and waste
- non-essential operations and services
- stealth privatisation,
- PFI costs to the taxpayer, and
- Conservative government under-funding
When you add them together, this is what you get (thanks to ‘The Canary’ for this picture).
It is my belief that Theresa May is quite happy for the management of the NHS to keep digging their own grave through ineptitude so it can be privatised and got off her books once and for all. And with it any obligation she and the Tory party have to the UK people’s healthcare. I bet she won’t abolish national insurance when she does.
